Annapolis Film Festival Inspiration

We had our first foray into the world of film festivals — Annapolis Film Festival was so lovely and lively. Excited to have participated in the events at Maryland Hall. We enjoyed all the film goers from near and far who stopped into the shop, sharing their enthusiasm for the medium of film and for our little shop! In honor of the festival and the fact that we survived the long weekend, we’re posting our list of favorite films about art, in any discipline and in no particular order:

White Nights [Hello Gregory Hines and Baryshnikov!]
COLOR THEORIES by Julio Torres [Yes to comedy and any standup comedy that incorporates design and art].
At Eternity's Gate [The inimitable Willem Defoe as Vincent Van Gogh.]
The Electrical Life of Louis Wain [The popularization of cat art is high up there in our book.]
Miss Potter [The life of Beatrix Potter, Renee Zellweger portrays the esteemed creator of Peter Rabbit.]
BASQUIAT [Jeffrey Wright portrays the Brooklyn-born artist who used graffiti as a jumping-off point for his canvas paintings.]
Amadeus [Classic rivalry between Mozart and the composer Salieri.]
The Turning Point [Shirley MacLaine plays an aging ballerina whose daughter is a rising star in the American Ballet Company —they all must face the results of past choices- also includes Baryshnikov and epic excerpts by some of the world’s best ballerinas.]

See you at the movies!

Cheers!
Meg + Katie
